Chicken Tikka Biryani

Chicken Tikka Biryani is little different from the regular biryani’s we have; this can be tried when we are bored of having regular biryani.

The difference in preparing chicken tikka biryani recipe is that we first need to prepare chicken tikkas and then cook them along with biryani masala ingredients. If we marinate the chicken with chicken tikka masala on the previous day and keep in the refrigerator the next day we can directly put them on the pan and make chicken tikkas. This can save some time when we make chicken tikka biryani at home.

To save some time you can simultaneously cook rice. For this biryani recipe, I didn’t follow the conventional way of half cooking rice and straining out the water. I cooked rice in the electric rice cooker instead. But turned off the cooker when the rice were 90 percent cooked and still has some moisture. Then added to the chicken tikka marinate.   • Chicken- 500 grams
  • Lemon-2 tsp
  • Kashmiri red chili- 1 tsp
  • Black pepper- 1 tsp
  • Garam masala-1 tsp
  • Red food color- ¼ tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste- 2 tsp
  • Mustard oil- 1 tbsp
  • Salt- According to taste
  • Cooking oil- ½ cup
  • Sliced onion- 1 cup
  • Tomato- 1 medium
  • Green chilli- 2
  • Salt- According to taste
  • Red chili- 1 tsp
  • Coriander- 1 tsp
  • Plain yogurt- 4 tbsp
  • Water- 5 cups
  • Cinnamon sticks- 2
  • Cloves- 6
  • Cardamom- 2
  • Salt- According to taste
  • Ghee- 1 tsp
  • Basmati rice- 2cups
  • Ghee- 1 tbsp
  • Fresh mint-1 tbsp
  • Fresh coriander- 1 tbsp
  • Food colour- 1 tbsp
  • Fry Onion- 1 tbsp
  • Fry Cashew- 1tsp

Lets prepare Chicken Tikka Briyani

  1. Marinate the chicken with lemon, salt, red chili, black pepper, garam masala, red food colour, ginger paste, garlic paste, and mustard oil.
  2. Wrap the chicken bowl and marinate for 30 minutes.
  3. Till chicken get marinate lets cook Gravy.
  4. Take a pan, add sliced onion fry until onion get brown then add chopped tomato and green chilli.
  5. Cook till tomato get soft.
  6. On other side off gas now we start cooking chicken in grilled pan, add cooking oil in pan.
  7. Place the chicken pieces on a grill pan for 10 minutes on low heat and flip all chicken pieces. Cook for another 10 min on medium heat. Till chicken done.
  8. After 10 min add chicken in gravy cook for another 10 min.
  9. On other side off gas take a large pot, boil water and add the following cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom, salt, ghee and basmati rice. Cook rice till rice done 80%.
  10. After rice is done remove the excess water.

Let’s start placing the chicken tikka briyani

  1. Create layers of rice and chicken
  2. Sprinkle fried onions and ghee
  3. Garnish with fresh mint and coriander leaves
  4. Add food colour and cook for 10 more minutes on low heat with lid on it (cook on tawa do not do on direct stove).
